BASEBALL SELECTED AS TOP SEED OF NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP EAST REGIONAL
Orangeburg, NY (5/11/09) The Dominican College baseball team has been named the top seed of the 2009 NCAA Division II Baseball Championship East Regional as was announced last night by the NCAA. The six-team double-elimination regional will be held Thursday, May 14 through Sunday, May 17th at Franklin Pierce's Dr. Arthur and Martha Pappas Field in Rindge, NH.

The six-team double-elimination regional will be held Thursday, May 14 through Sunday, May 17th at Franklin Pierce's Dr. Arthur and Martha Pappas Field in Rindge, NH.
Dominican (37-12) will play as the top seed in the East Regional after winning the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference regular season championship by seven games and finishing as the runner-up in the conference tournament. Wilmington (27-27) upset Dominican to claim the CACC Championship to earn the conference's automatic bid and will travel to Rindge as the sixth seed.
The Chargers will take on the sixth-seeded Wildcats in a re-match of last weekend's CACC Tournament Championship on Thursday, May 14th at 11am in the opening game of the regional.
The second-seed and host Franklin Pierce University will take on #5 Assumption College at 2:30 pm, while #3 Dowling will face #4 Adelphi University at 6:00 pm.
The winner of the East Regional will advance, along with winners from the nation's seven other regions, to the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship Finals, to be held on May 23-30 at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, N.C. The 2009 season marks the 42nd annual NCAA Division II Baseball Championship, and the first year the finals will be held in Cary.
