The Chargers broke open a scoreless game with four runs in the bottom of the third inning as they took advantage of three Knight errors. Robert Iglesias (Mays Landing, NJ) led off the inning with an infield single and moved to second on a throwing error. Xavier Bonilla (Bronx, NY) reached on a fielder's choice as he bunted the ball, but an error allowed Iglesias to get to third and score. Senior Dan Robinson (Massapequa, NY) delievered a two-out RBI single to plate Bonilla and following a third QC error Andrew Camardella (Pelham, NY) hit a two-run double to right center to put DC up 4-0.
Queens got a run back in the top of the fourth inning, but Dominican regained a four run lead (5-1), scoring in the bottom stanza as Marco Moreno (Miami, FL) hit a sacrifice fly ball to center field to score Iglesias, who had led off the inning with a walk.
QC added two runs in the sixth and added three more runs in the top of the eighth to take a 6-5 advantage, but DC tied the game (6-6) in the bottom of the eighth as Bonilla worked a two-out walk, stole second, advanced to third on an infield single and stole home.
In the bottom of the ninth, Tony Blake (Windsor, CT) singled to left field with one out and stole second to get into scoring position. An error on a failed pick-off attempt allowed him to move to third and he scored on the game-winning single to left center by Camardella for the 7-6 victory.
Camardella led the Chargers offensively with two hits and three RBIs, while Bonilla, Iglesias and Blake each scored two runs a-piece.
Freshman left-handed pitcher Jordan Paszek (Sussex, WI) recorded his first collegiate win (1-0) in two innings of work, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits.
Starter Greg Gonzalez (Franklin Square, NY) went five innings in the no decision, allowing one run on three hits and recording four strikeouts.
