BASEBALL CHARGES PAST NYACK COLLEGE
Nyack, NY (4/4/11) The Dominican College baseball team improved to 13-8 overall and 7-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play after defeating host, Nyack College, 9-1 this evening in a game played at Nyack High School.

Dominican put three runs on the board in the first inning as senior Mario Lopez (Anthony, NM) belted a three-run homer to take a 3-0 advantage.
The Chargers added two runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings to increase the lead to 7-1 as the team took advantage of three Nyack errors in the fourth. Michael Levy, Jr (Salisbury Mill, NY) hit an RBI double and later scored on a Nyack error.
In the fifth, Tony Blake (Windsor, CT) walked and later scored on a Warrior fielding error and a single by Robert Iglesias (Mays Landing, NJ) allowed Dru Kayfus (Boynton Beach, FL) to advance to third and he scored on a second NC fielding error.
DC added two more runs in the seventh as Lopez scored on an error and Levy, Jr hit an RBI single for the final 9-1 victory.
CACC Pitcher of the Week, Dave Bartuska (Duryea, PA), picked up the win to improve to 3-2, allowing one run (none earned) on five hits and nine strikeouts in seven innings pitched. Richard Leachy (Brookfield, WI) came in to pitch the final two innings.
