BASEBALL CHARGES PAST BLOOMFIELD COLLEGE
Bloomfield, NJ (5/2/11) The Dominican College baseball team improved to 25-15 overall and 17-4 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play after charging past host, Bloomfield College, 10-1, this afternoon in a game played at Westside Park.

Dominican broke open a scoreless game with a seven run fourth inning, capitalizing on five hits to go up 7-0. Senior Dan Robinson (Massapequa, NY) drew a one out walk and Tony Blake (Windsor, CT) followed with a double to put two runners on base. Shortstop Marco Moreno (Miami, FL) loaded the bases with a walk and center fielder Christopher Brown (Tenafly, NJ) doubled to plate two runs and catcher Robert Iglesias (Mays Landing, NJ) drew the third walk of the inning for DC to reload the bases and Moreno scored and all the runners advanced on a wild pitch. A walk to Tyler Clark (Cheshire, CT) loaded the bases again and third basemen Michael Levy, Jr (Salisbury Mill, NY) hit a sacrifice fly ball to right field to bring in Brown and senior Mario Lopez (Anthony, NM) hit a two-run double to increase the lead to 6-0. An RBI single off the bat of Andrew Camardella (Pelham, NY) brought in the seventh run of the inning for the Chargers.
The Chargers added a run in the sixth as Levy hit a one out double, advanced to third on a ground out and scored on a wild pitch to calim an 8-0 lead. Two runs in the ninth on the double by Blake put Dominican up 10-0. Bloomfield scored a run in the bottom of the ninth for the 10-1 final score.
Junior right-handed pitcher Justin Moore (Wantagh, NY) got the win to improve to 7-1 on the season, pitching seven innings and scattering just two hits and three strikeouts.
Richard Leachy (Brrokfield, WI) came in to pitch a 1-2-3 eighth inning and Jordan Paszek (Sussex, WI) pitched the ninth.
