Pomona, N.Y. (5/2/21) The Dominican College baseball team earned a split with the Golden Falcons of Felician University.

Felician took game one by a score of 8-7 and the Chargers bounced back to take game two by a score of 12-1.

The Chargers now hold a record of 15-12 (9-10 CACC) and Felician now holds a record of 16-11 (14-3 CACC).

Game One: Alex Schwartz took the mound for the Golden Falcons and earned his fifth win of the season.

Sean Downey led the way for the Golden Falcons with a home run, double, and three RBIs. Mike Martinez and Jake Stoller each added a double and one RBI.

Levis Aguila and Shawn Vazquez each drove in one RBI.

Arthur Quinones (Miami, Fla.) led the way for the Chargers going 4 for 5 including a double, two runs scored, and one RBI. Joshua Colon (Bronx, N.Y.) finished with a home run, double, one run scored, and one RBI.

Benjamin Meza (Miami, Fla.) added a homer and two RBIs. Carmine Giordano (New Rochelle, N.Y.) and Bobby Garbuio (Chappaqua, N.Y.) each drove in one RBI. Shane Hewlette (Deer Park, N.Y.) added a triple.

Felician's largest lead in the game was six when they led 7-1 over DC in the fourth inning. DC came charging back to cut the deficit to 7-6 after Giordano drove in a run on a fielder's choice. Quinones singled in a run in the fifth inning and Meza's two-run homer put the Chargers within one.

Both teams added one run each before the end of the game and the Golden Falcons secured the 8-7 win.

Game Two: Eric Sandusky (Stony Point, N.Y.) earned the win for the Chargers in game two. Sandusky recorded seven strikeouts in the win.

In the first inning, Felician got on the board when Sean Downey homered for the early 1-0 lead over DC.

The Chargers answered with 12 unanswered runs. Felician held the 1-0 lead until the fifth inning when the Chargers put up seven runs and then added five more runs in the sixth inning on their way to the 12-1 win.

Carmine Giordano led the way with two hits including a double, three RBIs, and two runs scored. Richard Paulino (San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic) added two hits and two RBIs. Shane Hewlette added two hits including a double, two runs scored, and one RBI.

Arthur Quinones added two hits, two runs scored, and one RBI. Max Chidsey (Naples, Fla.) added a double and one RBI.

Brian Sanders (La Ceiba, Honduras), Joshua Colon, and Benjamin Meza each added one RBI.

The Chargers will be back in action Tuesday, May 4th when they host Wilmington University for a conference doubleheader beginning at 2:00 PM and game two will follow at 5:00 PM.
