BASEBALL UPENDS TIGERS IN EXTRA INNINGS
Flemington, N.J. (3/18/26) The Dominican University New York baseball team completed the season series with Holy Family University by defeating the Tigers 10-9 in 10 innings in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action today at Diamond Nation.
With the win, the Chargers take the series 2-1 and improve to 7-10 overall and 3-3 in conference play.
Holy Family led 2-0 after two innings, but the Chargers scored a run in the third on a RBI ground out from CACC Player of the Week Chad Falcon and followed with a run in the fourth on the RBI ground out by Jean Nunez to tie the game, 2-all.
Dominican scored three runs in their half of the fifth inning as designated hitter Kevin Hirsch blasted a three-run homer over the left field fence to claim a 5-2 lead. HFU scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth to cut the lead to 5-4, but DUNY added two more in the sixth on an error and a bases loaded walk to take a 7-4 advantage.
The Chargers scored two runs in the top of the ninth off RBI singles from Nunez and Fraelyn Rosario to increase the lead to 9-5. The Tigers rallied with a five-run bottom of the ninth inningto re-tie the game at 9-9.
In the top of the tenth, Falcon delivered a lead-off home run over the right field fence to the 10-9 lead and eventual win.
Left fielder Davin Keddell-Tuckey went 3-4 in the game, while Falcon, Jaden Maia and AJ Giannetti had two hits a-piece.
Falcon also delivered on the mound as he picked up the win in one and 2/3 innings of relief.
Dominican returns to action tomorrow afternoon when they travel to Caldwell University.
