LIONS TOP CHARGERS BASEBALL
Lincoln University, Pa. (4/6/26) The Dominican University New York baseball team lost a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game to host Lincoln University, 8-7, this afternoon in a game played at the LU Baseball Complex.
Following the game, the Chargers are now 13-18 overall and 9-9 in conference play.
Dominican got on the scoreboard in the top of the second inning when Juan Peralta hit an RBI infield single for the early 1-0 lead. LU got on the board in the bottom stanza with two runs, but the Chargers answered in the top of the third as sophomore Erick Diaz hit a solo home run to make the score 2-2.
Runs by the Lions in the fourth and fifth innings put them ahead 7-2. In the top of the sixth Dominican got a run back on the infield single by AJ Giannetti and added three runs in the seventh on the RBI single by Jaden Maia and the two-run single off the bat of Byron Arias to cut the lead to 7-6.
Dominican tied the game in the top of the eighth as Diaz picked up the run-scoring infield single, but a one out pinch hit home run by the Lions in the bottom of the ninth lifted them to the 8-7 victory.
Diaz finished the game with four hits and two RBIs for the Chargers. Maia and Arias each had three hits in the loss, with Arias adding two RBIs.
Reliever Kenny Dominguez suffered the loss in one and 2/3 innings of work.
The Chargers are back in action tomorrow when they travel to Mercy University.
