Hockessin, Del. (4/11/26) The Dominican University New York baseball team opened a weekend series with a road doubleheader against Goldey-Beacom College this afternoon.
The Chargers took game one by a score of 11-4 but fell in game two 16-4.
Dominican now stands at 15-21 overall and 11-11 in the CACC. GBC now holds a record of 25-12 overall and 18-4 in conference.
Game One: The Chargers fell behind 1-0 in the first inning but rallied for six runs in the second inning and did not look back from there as they added one run in each of the sixth and seventh innings beofre a three-run ninth.
John Stoliker got the start for the Chargrers and finished with a line of 4.2 innings, three hits, one earned run, and five strikeouts.
Yanka Pineda Santana picked up the win in relief after tossing 2.1 shutout innings.
The second inning rally for the Chargers was highlighted by a solo homer by Jaden Maia which tied the game followed by a grand slam by Fraelyn Rosario and then capped off by a solo homer by Chad Falcon.
Falcon later singled in a run and added a third RBI with a sac fly. Rosario added an RBI-single in the ninth for his second hit and fifth RBI.
Byron Arias finished with two hits while Pablo Guevara added three hits and one RBI.
Game Two: The Chargers jumped out in front with an early 3-0 lead after a three-run homer by Kevin Hirsch.
GBC answered with a two-run homer in the second by Joey Current to cut the DU lead to 3-2.
Falcon extended the lead to 4-2 after a sac fly in the third inning.
The Lightning got one run back in the bottom of the third inning and then took the lead in the fourth inning. GBC rallied for five runs in the fifth and six runs in the sixth on their way to the game two victory.
Conner Blence picked up the win for the Lightning while Robert Liriano suffered the loss.
The Chargers and Lightning complete the series tomorrow at 4:00 PM from Clover Stadium.
