CHARGERS EDGED BY LIGHTNING IN SERIES FINALE
Pomona, N.Y. (4/12/26) The Dominican University New York baseball team wrapped up their weekend series with the Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College this afternoon at Clover Stadium.
The Lightning edged the Chargers in game three by a score of 3-2 and win the season series 2-1 as they improve to 26-12 overall and 19-4 in the CACC.
The Chargers fall to 15-22 overall and 11-12 in conference play.
Both teams scratched a run across in the first inning. Jake Macey singled in the game's first run in the top half of the first inning.
The Chargers tied the game in the bottom half after a run scored on a double play.
GBC regained the lead in the top of the third inning after an RBI-single by Roman Keith.
The Chargers evened the game up again in the fourth inning after AJ Giannetti ripped a triple to center field that drove in the tying run but was thrown out at the plate after a perfect relay to keep the game tied.
A sac fly by Jake Macey gave GBC a 3-2 lead in the fifth inning which would later be the final score.
The Chargers rallied with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning after Fraelyn Rosario was hit by a pitch followed by a single by Chad Falcon and a pinch hit walk by Jean Nunez.
GBC closer Kevin Dillon finished off his seventh save after getting Jaden Maia to fly out and secure the win.
DU starting pitcher Jason Murphy pitched a solid six innings but suffered the loss.
Jeuriz Polanco threw two scoreless ininngs while Falcon threw a scoreless ninth inning.
Giannetti finished the game 3-3 with a walk and an RBI. Maia added a double.
The Chargers wrap up the season series with the University of Bridgeport on Tuesday at Clover Stadium.
