BASEBALL TOP WILDCATS IN EXTRA INNINGS
Pomona, N.Y. (4/20/26) The Dominican University New York baseball team upended the visiting Wildcats of Wilmington University, 6-5, this evening in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action played at Clover Stadium.
With the win, Dominican improves to 16-26 overall and 12-15 in conference play.
The Dominican offense got going early with four runs in the bottom of the first inning as designated hitter Kevin Hirsch hit an RBI double and Byron Arias blasted a three-run home run over the right field fence.
Wilmington countered with four runs in the top of the second to re-tie the game and took the lead with a run in the sixth for the 5-4 edge.
In the bottom of the ninth, Erick Diaz hit a one out single and moved to second on the walk to Fraelyn Rosario. A walk to Chad Falcon loaded the bases and Hirsch followed with an RBI ground out to make the score 5-5 and force extra innings.
The bottom of the tenth saw catcher AJ Giannetti lead off the inning with a walk and move to second on the single through the right side off the bat of Davin Keddell-Tuckey. An infield bunt single from Juan Peralta loaded the bases and second basemen Pablo Guevara drew a bases loaded walk to plate Giannetti and give DUNY the 6-5 victory.
Giannetti had two hits in the game, while Arias finished with three RBIs. Hirsch had two RBIs in the win.
Reliever Chad Falcon picked up with win in one inning of relief and striking out two batters.
Starter Tanner MacLean went nine innings in the no decision with five strikeouts.
Dominican returns to action tomorrow when they travel to Molloy University in non-conference action.
