LIONS DOWN CHARGERS BASEBALL
Uniondale, N.Y. (4/21/26) The Dominican University New York baseball team dropped a non-conference game to Molloy University, 29-11, in seven innings today in a game played at Mitchel Field.
With the loss, the Chargers are now 16-27 on the season.
Dominican jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning as third basemen Byron Arias got things going with an RBI single to center field and Kevin Hirsch would later score on a wild pitch. Catcher Antonio DiGrigoli followed with a two-run single to left field.
The Lions countered with three runs in the bottom of the first, three in the second and three in the third to claim a 9-5 advantage. DUNY's fifth run of the game was scored in the second on a Molloy error.
In the top of the fourth, the Chargers scored five runs on three hits to re-take a 10-9 edge. Arias brought home a run on a sacrifice fly ball to center and Juan Peralta followed with run-scoring single to right field. Later back-to-back-to-back bases loaded walks to Jean Nunez, Erick Diaz and Fraelyn Rosario gave the lead back to DUNY.
Molloy rallied with seven runs in the bottom of the fourth innings to pull ahead, 16-10. The Chargers got a run back in the fifth off the RBI single up-the-middle off the bat of DiGrigoli to make the score 16-11.
The botton of the sixth inning saw the Lions score 13 runs on eight hits for the eventual 29-11 final score.
DiGrigoli went 2-3 in the game with three RBIs.
Reliever Christian Morgan suffered the loss.
The Chargers return to action tomorrow as they host Feliican University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double header to be played at Clover Stadium. First pitch for game one is slated for 12pm.
