Philadelphia, Pa. (4/26/26) The Dominican University New York baseball team earned a split with the Rams of Thomas Jefferson University in a CACC doubleheader.
The Chargers took game one 5-3 in comeback fashion in 11 innings, but saw their comeback effort fall just short in game two falling 4-3.
The Chargers are now 17-30 overall and 13-18 in conference play on the season.
Game One: DU starting pitcher Tanner MacLean had another great performance on the mound for the second straight outing. MacLean threw nine innings, striking out six, and only allowed three runs all in the first inning.
The Chargers got on the board in the third inning after Erick Diaz knocked in DU's first run on an RBI-groundout. Diaz later homered in the fifth inning and a Chad Falcon single drove in the tying run in the ninth inning.
Diaz ripped his second homer of the game in the 11th inning and later Byron Arias added an insurance run on an RBI-single.
Josh Harrsion threw a scoreless bottom half of the 11th inning as he picked up the save. Kenny Dominguez picked up the win after throwing a scoreless 10th inning.
Game Two: The Rams held off DU's bid for another comeback victory in game two as they secured the 4-3 win and doubleheader split.
The Rams jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning for the second straight game.
AJ Giannetti got the Chargers on the board in the second inning after an RBI-double and later Jean Nunez singled in another run to cut the deficit to 3-2.
The Rams added an insurance run in the seventh before the Chargers rallied. Giannetti singled in his second RBI of the game to cut the TJU lead to 4-3.
Dominican loaded the bases but Orion Frailey earned the save after holding the Chargers to three runs.
The Chargers and the Rams will finish their three game series tomorrow night at Clover Stadium.
