CHARGERS BASKETBALL FALLS TO ADELPHI UNIVERSITY

Garden City, NY (11/16/08) The Dominican College men's basketball team fell to host Adelphi University, 64-50, this afternoon at the Adelphi University Tip-Off Classic.

Garden City, NY (11/16/08)  The Dominican College men's basketball team fell to host Adelphi University, 64-50, this afternoon at the Adelphi University Tip-Off Classic.

Dominican started off the game with a 7-3 lead, but the Panthers tied the game at 10-10 and never looked back en route to a 33-22 halftime lead.

In the second half, the Panthers continued on the offensive, leading by as many as 41-24 with 15 minutes remaining in the game.  The Chargers cut the lead to 12 with two minutes to go, but it wouldn't be enough as the Panthers came away with the 64-50 win.

Sophomore Tim Matchett (Pitman, NJ) led the Chargers with 11 points.  Senior guard Brandon Brock (Newburgh, NY) added nine points, while Will Carty (Bronx, NY) had seven points and three assists.

The Panthers were led by Richard Byrd with 24 points and seven caroms, while Sky Khaleel netted 13 points and Alvin Vivican scored 11 points in the win.

With the victory Adelphi improves to 1-1, while the Chargers fall to 1-1 on the year.

Dominican is back in action on Wednesday when they host Molloy College.  Tip-off is set for 7pm on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
