Manchester, N.Y. (11/10/18) The Dominican College men's basketball team charged past Franklin Pierce University, 94-67, this evening in their 2018-2019 season opener against Franklin Pierce University played at the Stan Spirou Field House on the campus of Southern New Hampshire University.

The Ravens led 37-25 with 7:27 remaining in the first half when Dominican charged back with a 15-0 tear to claim a 40-37 lead with 3:32 left in the half.  Following a FPU three-point basket, junior Daraja Rodwell (Baldwin, N.Y.) made a layup with 50 seconds on the clock to give DC the 42-40 edge at the intermission.

Rodwell paced Dominican with 14 first half points, shooting 6-10 from the floor and 2-3 from the three-point arc.  Guard Tavon Ginyard (Brentwood, N.Y.) came off the bench to score seven points.

DC went 17-33 (51.5%) from the floor, 3-6 (50%) from three-point range and 5-7 (71.4%) from the foul in the first half.

Dominican opened the second half with three consecutive points, but FPU cut the lead to three (45-42) with under 18 minutes left.  The Chargers used a 12-2 run over the next four minutes to extend their lead to 57-44 and their never looked back en route to the win.

Rodwell led all scorers with 26 points (9-16 from the floor, 3-5 from beyond the arc and 5-7 from the charity stripe) and grabbed five rebounds.

Junior Daniel Grant (Middletown, N.Y.) contributed 14 points, four steals and four rebounds.

Ginyard and senior Sayon Charles (Staten Island, N.Y.) each scored 11 points, while Ginyard had four rebounds and Charles finished with five boards.

Dominican (1-0) will take on Southern New Hampshire University (1-0) tomorrow afternoon in the finale of the SNHU Tournament.  Tip-off is scheduled for 4pm
