MEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS TO MILLERSVILLE IN THE 9th ANNUAL MIKE COFFEY MEMORIAL GAME
Orangeburg, N.Y. (12/3/25) The Dominican University New York men's basketball team fell in a high scoring affair to the Marauders of Millersville University in the 9th Annual Mike Coffey Memorial Game.
Dominican, #20 in the NABC DII Men's Basketball Poll, falls to 5-1 overall on the season. Millersville improves to 4-2 overall.
An evenly matched first half saw the Marauders hold a two-point lead over the Chargers. Millersville went 20-27 (74.1%) from the field as a team including four three-pointers. Day Waters had 17 first half points while Saraj Ali added 12 points.
The Chargers shot 53.1% from the field in the first half with Koi D. Kirk, Jr. leading the way with 10 points.
The Marauders got off to a fast start in the second half as they used a 14-6 run over the first five minutes to take a double digit lead.
The Chargers continued to battle their way back into the game and after a big four-point play by Elijah Peters, the Chargers got within two points at 78-76 with 7:35 left to play.
Millersville continued to extend their lead but a three-pointer by Key'Sean Maynard cut the Marauder's lead to 90-87 with under four minutes to play.
Millersville never lost the lead as they used a 10-2 run to extend their lead and later extended to their largest lead of the game which was 13 points.
Kirk led the Chargers in scoring with 20 points on 7-9 shooting from the field and added six free-throws. Peters finished the game with 18 points on 5-7 from the field and 7-9 from the charity stripe.
Maynard finished with 14 points while Javel Cherry and Chance Morrish each finished with 10 points. Kirk and Maynard each recorded a team-high three steals while Reginald Dillard added a team-high four assists.
Millersville was led by Day Waters who led all scorers with 31 points. Saraj Ali finished with 20 points and a team-high seven boards.
Dominican returns to action and returns to conference play next Tuesday when they visit Caldwell University.
