CHARGERS TOPS RAMS
Philadelphia, Pa. (1/17/26) The Dominican University New York men's basketball team held on to an 84-82 victory over host, Thomas Jefferson University, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action played today in the Gallagher Athletic, Recreation and Convocation Center.
With the win, the Chargers improve to 7-8 overall and 4-4 in conference play.
Dominican never trailed in the first half and led by as many as 10 points (40-30) with 4:22 left in the half. Chance Morrish closed out the half with a layup to give DUNY a 48-39 lead at the break.
The Rams rallied in the second half and used a late 5-0 run to take a 72-71 lead with 3:33 to play. Later tied at 76-all, four straight Charger points gave them the 80-76 edge with 1:15 on the clock. With the slim 82-81 lead, Elijah Peters iced two free throws with six ticks left to give Dominican some breathing room at 84-81. The Rams ended the game with a free throw for the final 84-82 Charger win.
For the game, Dominican shot 56.0% (28-50) from the floor, 33.3% (4-12) from the three-point arc and 70.6% (24-34) from the foul line.
All five of the Charger starters scored in double figures, with Peters leading the way with 21 points and five rebounds.
Tyler Edore finished with 15 points and pulled down a team best seven caroms, while Morrish finished with 14 points and five assists.
Senior Koi D. Kirk, Jr. talled 12 points, six rebounds and three assists with Key'Sean Maynard recording 10 points and five boards in the win.
