MEN'S BASKETBALL TURN BACK RAMS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (2/14/26) The Dominican University New York men's basketball team turned back the visiting Rams of Thomas Jefferson University, 106-83, this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action played on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.
Today was the 37th Annual Bobby Mulligan Memorial Game and prior to tip-off the Annual Bobby Mulligan Memorial Scholarship was award to junior Juelz Dickerson.
With the win, the Chargers improve to 10-14 overall and 7-9 in conference play.
Jefferson led 12-6 with 15:33 remaining in the first half when Dominican went on a 12-6 run to knot the game at 18-all. From there the team traded baskets over the next four minutes until Isaiah Honis began an 18-10 DUNY run to claim a 48-40 lead with just under two minutes remaining in the first half. A Chance Morrish trey as time expired gave the Chargers a 10-point lead (54-44) at the intermission.
Dominican would never trail in the second half and would shoot 69.2% (18-26) from the floor in the period en route to the win. It is the second time this year where the team scored over 100 points. For the game, the Chargers shot 60% (39-60) from the floor and out rebounded their opponents, 35-26.
Morrish led seven players in double figures with 16 points, six rebounds and a career high 12 assists in the win.
Sophomore Dimitre Alston came off the bench to score a career high 14 points, while Honis finished with 12 points and a team best eight rebounds.
Javel Cherry, Key'Sean Maynard and Elijah Peters all had 11 points each with Maynard adding four assists and three steals.
Center Tyler Edore recorded 10 points, five boards and two blocks.
The Chargers return to action on Tuesday evening when they travel to the University of Bridgeport.
