CHARGERS DOWN PURPLE KNIGHTS, SWEEP SEASON SERIES
Bridgeport, Conn. (2/17/26) The Dominican University New York men's basketball team downed the Purple Knights of the University of Bridgport in conference action and earn the season sweep.
Dominican defeated the Purple Knights 88-75 as they improve to 11-14 overall and 8-9 in the CACC.
Both teams were locked in a 29-29 tie after the first half. The first part of the second half was a back and forth battle and with less than 10 minutes to play, the Chargers used a 15-5 run to extend to a double digit lead.
Dominican continued their hot second half as they built a 16 point lead which was their largest of the game on their way to the 88-75 win.
The Chargers shot 61.3% from the floor in the second half and put up 59 points in the half. Dimitre Alston and Key'Sean Maynard combined for 28 points in the second half.
Alston led all scorers with 24 points while also pulling down six boards. Maynard finished with 14 points including 8-10 from the charity stripe and also dished out a team-high six assists.
Koi D. Kirk, Jr. scored 13 points including a perfect 6-6 from the free-throw line. Isaiah Honis finished with eight points and four boards while Donte Howard picked up four assists.
The Chargers cashed in 22 points off of 21 UB turnovers. Dominican added 34 points in the paint while adding 58 points off the bench.
The Chargers return home this Saturday to host Georgian Court University on Senior Day.
