#6 SEED CHARGERS ADVANCE TO CACC SEMIFINALS
Philadelphia, Pa. (3/3/26) The Dominican University New York men's basketball team punched their ticket to the CACC Semifinals with an 88-71 victory over the Rams of Thomas Jefferson University.
The #6 seed Chargers downed the Rams to improve to 14-15 overall on the season while the #3 seed Rams fall to 16-12.
Dominican got off to a fast start offensivley jumping out to a 21-7 lead through the first nine minutes of the first half.
The Rams countered with an 8-0 run to cut the DU lead to 21-15 and later cut the deficit to two points at 27-25 with over seven minutes to play.
Dominican built their lead back to 10 points but the Rams cut the deficit back to 41-35 by halftime.
In the second half, the Rams cut the DU lead to one point at 53-52. Dominican never surrendered the lead and used a 14-3 run to build a 12 point lead.
Dominican later extended to their largest lead of the game on their way to the 88-71 win.
Koi D. Kirk, Jr. and Chance Morrish combined for 45 points for the Chargers. Kirk led all scorers with 24 points on 11-15 from the field while adding 11 rebounds for a double-double. Morrish finished with 21 points going 7-12 from the field and 7-10 from the charity stripe. Morrish also dished out four assists and picked up two steals.
Javel Cherry scored 13 points while Isaiah Honis recorded a game-high 13 boards while scoring eight points and also dished out four assists. Tyler Edore scored nine points while adding six boards and three blocks.
Reginald Dillard provided seven points off the bench and Elijah Peters added six points off the bench.
The Chargers finished the game shooting 48.6% from the field as a team and went 16-21 from the free-throw line.
Dominican outrebounded the Rams 47-33 and outscored the Rams 54-36 in the paint.
