MEN'S LACROSSE UPENDED BY ASSUMPTION COLLEGE IN OVERTIME
Hillburn, NY (4/18/10) The Dominican College men's lacrosse team rallied from a 7-4 deficit, but fell in overtime to the visiting Greyhounds from Assumption College, 11-10 this afternoon in a non-conference game held at the Torne Valley Sports Complex.

Assumption started out the game with a 2-0 run, but attacker Daniel Metoyer (San Diego, CA) got a nice pass from senior Remo Montalbano (Saugerties, NY) and found the back of the net to close out the first quarter with a 2-1 Greyhound lead.
The Greyhounds regained a two-goal advantage early in the second quarter, but two consecutive goals by DC tied the contest at 3-3. Montalbano netted both goals with assists credited to Korin Pierce (Middleburg, VA) and Metoyer. Two more goals by AC put them ahead 5-3 and Metoyer scored the behind-the-back goal off the dish from Montalbano as time expired in the first half to make the score 5-4 at the break.
The third quarter action was all Assumption as they tacked on two more goals to increase their lead to 7-4. Dominican charged back in the fourth quarter with four unanswered goals, beginning just fourteen seconds into the quarter. Junior Alex Jones (St. Albert, AB) recorded his first goal of the game off the pass from Jesse Peterson (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan). Pierce and freshman Connor Lawlor (Neptune City, NJ) each added unassisted goals to give DC their first lead of the game at 8-7 with 10:17 remaining in regulation.
The Grehounds answered back with three goals of their own to re-take a 10-8 lead with just over three minutes to go. Metoyer recorded the hat trick with his third goal of the game during a man-up opportunity with just 0:34 seconds left. The game-tying goal came with seven seconds on the clock as Lawlor tallied his second goal of the game off Peterson's second assist of the day for the 10-10 score at the end of regulation.
The game-winning goal for Assumption game just 0:34 seconds into the overtime quarter for the 11-10 victory.
Charger goalie Brendan Bonacum (Port Jefferson Station, NY) made eight saves in the loss.
With the loss Dominican drops to 3-8 on the season.
