MEN'S LACROSSE DROP ECC GAME TO DOWLING COLLEGE
Hillburn, NY (4/24/10) The Dominican College men's lacrosse team lost their seventh straight game this afternoon after falling to East Coast Conference (ECC) opponent, Dowling College, 19-7 at the Torne Valley Sports Complex.

The Lions got off to a roaring start with six straight goals for the 6-0 lead with 7:30 remaining in the first quarter. DC got on the board with 5:16 remaining as junior midfielder Jesse Peterson (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) netted his first goal of the game off the pass from senior Christopher Krutzler (Rockville, Centre, NY). Sophomore Korin Pierce (Middleburg, VA) closed out the first quarter with a goal off the assist from Daniel Metoyer (San Diego, CA) to cut the Lion lead to 6-2.
Freshman Connor Lawlor (Neptune City, NJ) closed out a 3-0 run for Dominican with an unassisted goal with 12:09 remaining in the first half to cut the Lion lead in half, 6-3. The rest of the quarter saw Dowling net another six consecutive goals to go into the intermission with a 12-3 lead.
Dowling continued on their run in the third quarter with two more goals to complete an 8-0 run and extend their lead to 14-3. Peterson tallied his second goal of the game off the dish from Lawlor with 4:13 remaining in the third quarter. The Lions netted the last goal of the third quarter to go up 15-4.
Dominican got things going in the fourth quarter with a 2-0 spurt as senior Remo Montalbano (Saugerties, NY) took a pass from Pierce and found the back of the net with 12:37 remaining in regulation. Sophomore John Zafran (New Milford, NJ) scored a goal off Lawlor's second assist of the day to make the score 15-6.
The Lions closed out the game outscoring Dominican, 4-1 for the final 19-7 victory. Freshman John Kubala (Emmitsburg, MD) had the Charger goal with 2:16 left in the game.
Charger goalie Brendan Bonacum (Port Jefferson Station, NY) had 10 saves in 44:06 of action, while freshman Andrew Slater (Brookfield, CT) tallied seven saves in 15:54 of action.
With the loss Dominican falls to 3-9 overall and 2-5 in the ECC.
