MEN'S SOCCER TIE HOLY FAMILY UNIVERSITY
Orangeburg, NY (9/12/09) The Dominican College men's soccer team, ranked fourth in this week's NSCAA/NCAA East Regional Rankings, netted the game-tying goal in the second half as they played to a 1-1 double overtime tie with the visiting Tigers of Holy Family University this evening in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action.
Orangeburg, NY (9/12/09) The Dominican College men's soccer team, ranked fourth in this week's NSCAA/NCAA East Regional Rankings, netted the game-tying goal in the second half as they played to a 1-1 double overtime tie with the visiting Tigers of Holy Family University this evening in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action.
The Tigers got on the board in the 10th minute of play as sophomore forward Tim Weglicki (Philadelphia, PA) scored a goal off the assist by Jason Lopez (Columbia).
Dominican scored the game tying goal in the 53rd minute of action as the CACC Player of the week, Joe Wright (Stratford-Upon-Avon, England), used a pass from goalie Brandon Heembrock (Ottawa, Canada) to net his sixth goal of the season.
Both teams missed opportunities to put the game away in the overtimes but were unable to put the ball in the net.
Dominican outshot the Tigers 27-11 and held a 3-2 edge in corner kicks for the game.
Tiger goalie Mark Ferretti (Voorhees, NJ) had six saves.
Charger goalie Heembrock made five saves.
With the tie Dominican now stands at 4-0-1 overall and 0-0-1 in the CACC.
Dominican is back in action on Wednesday when they host Concordia College at the DC Soccer Field. Game time is 3:30 pm.
