MEN'S SOCCER BLANKS UMASS-LOWELL
Orangeburg, NY (9/7/10) The Dominican College men's soccer team earned their second shutout victory of the season after blanking the visiting River Hawks from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell, 3-0, this afternoon in a non-conference game held on the DC Soccer Field.

Junior midfielder Alan Heavey (Huntington Station, NY) broke a 0-0 tie in the 49th minute of action as he tallied his first goal of the season on a shot from inside the six yard line after getting a pass from freshman Jorge Zubillaga (Uruguay) to take a 1-0 lead.
Sophomore Sony Narro (Stamford, CT) netted his first goal of the season at the 53:28 mark on a header from inside the six yard line on the pass from sophomore Pedro Franklin De Araujo (Capinas-SP, Brazil) to put Dominican ahead 2-0.
DC extended their lead to the final 3-0 score as junior midfielder John Langdon (Bellport, NY) scored his first goal of the season as he found the bottom right corner of the net on a shot from the 18 yard line.
The Chargers held a 15-12 lead on shots for the game and a 9-2 advantage on corner kicks.
Charger goalie Brandon Heembrock (Ottawa, Canada) had three saves in the victory.\
River Hawk keeper Matt Lavery (Nashua, NH) had one save.
With the victory Dominican improves to 2-1 on the season, while UMASS-Lowell falls to 0-2.
Dominican is back in action on Saturday when they host Goldey-Beacom College in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opening game of the season on the DC Soccer field at 2:30 pm.
