Orangeburg, NY (9/11/10) The Dominican College men's soccer squad turned back the visiting Lightning from Goldey-Beacom College, 6-1, this afternoon at the DC Soccer Field on opening day of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play.

The Chargers wasted no time getting on the board as freshman forward Jorge Zubillaga (Uruguay) tallied his second goal of the season off the cross from sophomore Sony Narro (Stamford, CT) at the 1:08 mark.
DC then went on to score back-to-back goals in the span of almost four minutes as sophomore Pedro Franklin De Araujo (Capinas-SP, Brazil) used the double assist from Zubillaga and Artan Balaj (New City, NY) to score his first goal of the seaon. Junior midfielder John Langdon (Bellport, NY) also recorded his second goal of the season at the 35:54 mark off the cross from senior Clifton Huxtable (Toronto, Ontario) to give Dominican a 3-0 lead.
The Lightning got on the board in the 46th minute of play as junior Kwame Appiah (Frederick, MD) netted a goal off a shot from inside the five yard line to cut the deficit to 3-1.
Dominican got the goal back as senior John Dumbuya (Boston, MA) tallied his first goal of the season at the 55:11 mark. Twelve minutes later sophomore Morgan Rodriguez (Poughkeepsie, NY) netted his first goal of the year off the pass from Langdon to increase the DC lead to 5-1.
The game's final goal came at 69:18 as Narro scored from inside the five yard line for the eventual 6-1 final score.
Charger keeper Brandon Heembrock (Ottawa, Canada) made five saves in 75:10 seconds of action, while Jonathan DeOliveira (Union, NJ) came in to play the final 14:50.
Lightning keeper Ignacio Farias (Maracay, Venezuela) had six saves in 67:15, while Carlo Meinhard (Caracas, Venezuela) had two saves in the final 22:45.
The Chargers outshot the Lightning 31-15 for the game.
With the victory Dominican improves to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the CACC, while Goldey-Beacom falls to 0-4 overall and 0-1 in the CACC.
Dominican is back in action on Thursday when they travel to Concordia College for a 3pm CACC contest.
