MEN'S VOLLEYBALL UPENDED BY LIU
Orangeburg, N.Y. (1/15/26) The Dominican University New York men's volleyball team opened a three game homestand as they hosted the Sharks of Long Island University.
Both teams split the first two sets and then LIU won two straight to secure the 3-1 win.
Dominican falls to 1-2 overall while the Sharks get their first win of the season and improve to 1-1.
The Sharks took the first set by a score of 25-20 for a 1-0 advantage. Dominican trailed in the second set 18-12. The Chargers fought back using a 13-5 run to finish a 25-23 victory and tied the match 1-1.
LIU jumped ahead 2-1 after a 25-22 win in the third set and then closed out the win after taking the fourth set 25-23.
The Chargers were led by ECC Player of the Week Phinehas Wiley who picked up 17 kills, 18.5 points, and seven digs. Tommaso Falchi finished with eight kills while adding three block assists.
Ayden Shaw and Hunter Paio each added six kills. Shaw also picked up two service aces while Paio also added two block assists.
Setter Jaiden Wilcox picked up a team-high 31 assists while adding seven digs and three block assists.
The Chargers return to action Saturday afternoon when they host Missouri S&T at 2:00 PM.
