SHARKS SWEEP SEASON SERIES OVER CHARGERS
Brooklyn, N.Y. (1/28/26) The Dominican University New York men's volleyball team fell in non-conference action to the Sharks of Long Island University at the Steinberg Wellness Center.
The Sharks sweep the season series over the Chargers to improve to 2-4 overall while Dominican falls to 2-4.
The Sharks took a 1-0 lead after winning the opening set 25-19. The Sharks held off a late rally by the Chargers in the second set to take a 2-0 advantage.
Dominican trailed late in the third set and went on a 10-4 run to even the score at 22-22. Both teams traded points until the Sharks solidified the 26-24 win and completed the sweep.
The Chargers were led by Ayden Shaw who recorded 10 kills while adding one service ace and one block assist for 11.5 points.
ECC Player of the Week Phinehas Wiley had nine kills and a team-high seven digs. Seth Terry picked up a team-high 22 assists while Hunter Paio led the team in blocks with one solo block and teo block assists.
Alejandro Miranda finished the match with six digs.
Dominican returns home this Friday when they host Sacred Heart University at 7:00 PM in the Hennessy Center.
