Orangeburg, NY (3/28/09) The Dominican College softball team swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header from the visiting Griffins of Chestnut Hill College this afternoon at the DC Softball Field. DC won the first game, 9-0 in five innings and took the second game, 6-0.

DC started off the first game with a run in the first inning off an RBI double by senior outfielder Sarah Beck (Milton, NY). The Lady Chargers exploded for five runs in the second inning to take a 6-0 lead. Senior Jamie Ollari (Hopatcong, NJ) led the inning off with a solo home run and rookie Deidre Jeppson (Sylmar, CA) later followed with a three run blast. Beck then delievered a one out RBI single.
The Lady Chargers added two more runs in the third on a solo homer by junior Danielle Garrison (Coatesville, PA) and an RBI double by shortstop Cara Piasecki (Port Monmouth, NJ) bring the lead to 8-0. Dominican added a run in the fourth on an RBI double by junior Kelli Rehm (Livingston, NJ) as DC cruised to the 9-0 victory.
Garrison picked up the win to improve to 6-1 on the year, scattering four hits and a game high 12 strikeouts.
Dominican stayed hot offensively with three runs in the first inning of the nightcap as back to back doubles by Beck and Scarillo each brought in a run, followed by an RBI single by Ollari.
The Lady Chargers had a two run second inning on a fielder's choice by junior Nicole Philpot (Dingmans Ferry, PA) and a ground out RBI by Piasecki to give DC a 5-0 lead. DC added to the lead in the third, scoring a run on an error which led to the final 6-0 score.
Freshman Katrina Pistilli (Staten Island, NY) improved to 7-3 with the complete game victory, scattering just three hits and striking out 11 batters.
With the victories, Dominican improves to 15-6 overall and 7-1 in the CACC, while Chestnut Hill falls to 2-18 overall and 0-6 in the CACC.
