#1 LADY CHARGERS SOFTBALL SPLIT ON DAY ONE OF CACC TOURNAMENT

Lakewood, NJ (4/30/09) The top seeded Dominican College Lady Chargers softball team split on day one of the 2009 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament being held at Georgian Court University. DC defeated #8 Post Univesity, 2-0 in the opening game and lost to #4 Georgian Court University, 1-0 in their second game.

Lakewood, NJ (4/30/09)  The top seeded Dominican College Lady Chargers softball team split on day one of the 2009 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament being held at Georgian Court University.  DC defeated #8 Post Univesity, 2-0 in the opening game and lost to #4 Georgian Court University, 1-0 in their second game. 

In game one vs #8 Post University, Dominican broke a 0-0 tie in the bottom of the fourth as junior designated player Danielle Garrison (Coatesville, PA) blasted a two out solo home run over the left field fence for a 1-0 DC lead.

Junior shortstop Cara Piasecki (Port Monmouth, NJ) put Dominican up 2-0 with a lead off solo homer over the left field fence in the sixth inning.

Freshman Katrina Pistilli (Staten Island, NY), an All-CACC Second Team selection, won her 20th game of the season and her 10th shut out victory after scattering six hits and six strikeouts over seven innings.

In the second game of the day GCU held Dominican to just one hit.  GCU scored the lone run of the game in second inning on an RBI single to left field.

Garrison took the loss to fall to 14-4 on the season, allowing one run on four hits and six strikeouts.

With the split Dominican now stands at 39-13 and will take on #6 Philadelphia University tomorrow at 12pm.
