#8 LADY CHARGERS SOFTBALL FALL TO #1 LE MOYNE COLLEGE AT NCAA EAST REGIONAL

Syracuse, NY (5/8/09) The eighth seeded Dominican College Lady Chargers softball fell to the top-seeded Le Moyne College Dolphins, 3-2 this afternoon in the opening game of the 2009 NCAA East Regional.

Syracuse, NY (5/8/09)  The eighth seeded Dominican College Lady Chargers softball fell to the top-seeded Le Moyne College Dolphins, 3-2 this afternoon in the opening game of the 2009 NCAA East Regional.

The Dolphins got on the board in the first inning on an RBI single to left field.  LC added a run in the sixth on a solo home run down the left field line to take a 2-0 lead.

Dominican rallied in the top of the seventh as sophomore catcher Nicole Scarillo (South Amboy, NJ) blasted a two out home run over the centerfield fence to cut the lead to 2-1.  Senior first basemen Jamie Ollari (Hoptacong, NJ) followed with a double to right center and designated player Danielle Garrison (Coatesville, PA) hit a pop up to short that was lost in the sun and dropped in for a hit as Ollari raced around third and game in to score to tie the game 2-2.

In the bottom of the seventh, Le Moyne got their first two runners on base as a result of DC fielding errors and a infield single to third loaded the bases.  A single to center field allowed the game winning, unearned run to score and lift Le Moyne to the 3-2 victory.

Freshman Katrina Pistlli (Staten Island, NY) suffered the loss (21-6), allowing three runs (one earned) on nine hits and two strikeouts.

With the loss Dominican falls to 39-15 overall and is now in the loser's bracket of the NCAA East Regional.

DC returns to action tomorrow at noon and will face the loser of the #5 Dowling College versus #4 Caldwell College.
