SOFTBALL SWEEPS CHESTNUT HILL COLLEGE
Philadelphia, PA (4/19/10) The Dominican College softball team extended their winning streak to six straight games after sweeping a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header from host Chestnut Hill College, 11-2 and 11-0, both in six innings.

In game one DC got on the board in the second inning on a Griffin error and added two more runs in the third on the RBI double by CACC Co-Rookie of the Week, Ashley Corrao (Staten Island, NY). An RBI groundout by Ashley Martinez (Bloomfield, NJ) put the Lady Chargers ahead 3-0. Dominican added two more runs in the fourth, taking advantage of a another CHC error and put three runs each on the board in the fifth and sixth innings for the 11- 2 victory.
In the fifth Deidre Jeppson (Slymar, CA) reached on a fielder's choice that brought in a run and two runs scored on the Griffin fielding error. The sixth inning saw Martinez hit an RBI double and Kathryn Coles (Farmville, VA) hit a two-run double.
Sophomore Katrina Pistilli (Staten Island, NY) got the win (10-5), allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits and four strikeouts.
In game two, the Lady Chargers took a 3-0 lead in the first on RBI singles by Delaney Childers (Johnstown, OH), Corrao and Martinez. Dominican added a run in the second on the RBI groundout by Childers to extend their lead to 4-0.
CACC Player of the Week, Cara Piasecki (Port Monmouth, NJ) belted a solo home run in the fifth and a six run sixth inning sealed an 11-0 victory. In the sixth, Childers delievered an RBI double and Piasecki added a two-run single through the left side. Corrao's second RBI double of the day brought in the fourth Lady Charger run of the inning and Danielle Garrison (Coatesville, PA) later followed with an RBI infield single. An CHC error led to the final Lady Charger run.
Childers picked up the win (15-6), scattering just three hits and striking out nine in the shut out vicotry.
With the sweep Dominican now stands at 25-11 overall and 15-1 in the CACC.
