PLANTE AND BERZAK NAMED TO CAPITAL ONE ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT
Orangeburg, N.Y. (5/4/13) Dominican College softball players, Julie Plante* and Paige Berzak, have been voted to the Capital One Academic All-District Softball First Team for District I in NCAA Division II, as coordinated and selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Orangeburg, N.Y. (5/4/13) Dominican College softball players, Julie Plante* and Paige Berzak, have been voted to the Capital One Academic All-District Softball First Team for District I in NCAA Division II, as coordinated and selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Both, as First Team selections, will move on to represent Dominican on the Division II Capital One Academic All-America® ballot.
Plante, a senior outfielder, makes her second straight appearance on the First Team and earns her second post season accolades of 2013 as she was recently named to the All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC). She has played in all 52 games this season and broke the school's all-time hit record this year. She ranked third in the CACC in hits and RBIs, fourth in doubles, fifth in runs scored and seventh in batting average and home runs.
Berzak, a junior designated player and infieder from Cypress, Calif., also earns her second post-season recognition as she made her first appearance on the All-CACC First Team after being named to the Second Team in 2012. She ranked 13th in the CACC in RBIs, 10th in on-base percentage and 16th in batting average.
CoSIDA's District I for NCAA Division II is comprised of all members of the CACC, East Coast Conference, and Northeast-10 Conference.
