SOFTBALL EARNS FIFTH STRAIGHT NCAA TOURNAMENT APPEARANCE

Orangeburg, N.Y. (5/6/13) The Dominican College softball team has earned their fifth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance as was announced by the NCAA this morning. The Lady Chargers received an at-large bid to the NCAA East 1 Regional and are the eighth seed in the regional.

Orangeburg, N.Y. (5/6/13) The Dominican College softball team has earned their fifth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance as was announced by the NCAA this morning. The Lady Chargers received an at-large bid to the NCAA East 1 Regional and are the eighth seed in the regional.

Dominican currently have an overall record of 32-20. The Lady Chargers fell short of their quest for a fourth straight Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament Championship as they were eliminated in the semi-finals by Georgian Court University.

DC will take on the top-seed, LIU Post, in first round action at the NCAA East 1 Regional, hosted by LIU Post. The East 1 Regional will be played May 10-12th on the campus of LIU Post.

The Pioneers (46-13) sat atop the NCAA East Region Rankings for the final two weeks of the regular season. The team advanced to the East Coast Conference (ECC) Championships where they lost to Molloy College, the third seed in the NCAA East Region. The Lady Chargers faced off against LIU Post during the 2013 season where they Pioneers swept a non-conference double-header.

At the 2012 regional tournament, Dominican topped the Pioneers in a first round game as catcher Ashley Corrao* (Staten Island, N.Y.) broke a 2-2 in the top of the 12th inning with a two-run home run. The Lady Chargers then defeated Molloy College to advance to the regional championship, but fell short as the Lions beat the Lady Chargers twice.
