SOFTBALL DROPS SEASON OPENING DOUBLEHEADER TO EAST STROUDSBURG UNIVERSITY

Stroudsburg, Pa. (3/10/21) The Dominican College softball team dropped both games of a non-conference doubleheader to East Stroudsburg University to open the 2021 season.
The Lady Chargers dropped the opening game by a score of 3-2 and then fell in game two by a score of 10-8.
Game One: Kyra Wiens (Chilliwack, British Columbia) took the mound for DC. Wiens completed 6.2 innings and recorded six strikeouts. Rajene Bowe (Ellendale, Del.) recorded two hits and two stolen bases. Kristin Miscia (Basking Ridge, N.J.) recorded one hit and scored two runs.
Haylee Redmond Ridge (Bellflower, Calif.) drove in both RBI for DC including a double. Madison Walker (Southhampton, N.J.) added one hit.
DC held a 2-0 lead in the sixth inning. Reilly Vicendese hit a triple to put the Warriors on the board. In the seventh inning, the Warriors completed the comeback when Lexi Wright tied the game with a walk and Molly Nies drove in the winning run to take the opener of the double-header.
Game Two: The Warriors followed up their win in game one with a 10-8 win in game two. In the first inning, DC jumped out in front 2-0. The Warriors answered in the bottom of the first inning with four runs to take a 4-2 lead.
The Lady Chargers answered back with five runs in the top of the second inning to jump back in front 7-4. The Warriors added three runs in the bottom of the second to tie the game 7-7.
Each team added one run in the third inning for an 8-8 tie. The Warriors took a 10-8 lead in the fifth inning and closed out the win.
Molly Nies recorded three hits and scored three runs. Reilly Vicendese recorded two hits and drove in two RBI. Kaitlin Houser finished the game with two hits, two RBI, and one run scored. Morgan Walsh and Ashley Spencer each drove in one RBI.
Leigh Ann Jenkins recorded the win for the Warriors to improve her record to 2-0. Jenkins recorded four strikeouts over six innings pitched.
For DC, Haylee Redman Ridge earned two RBI on two hits including a double. Madison Walker recorded two RBI and a triple. Alyssa Seiss (Queens, N.Y.) and Kristin Miscia each added one RBI. Bailey Bell (Washington, Pa.) scored three runs.
DC will look to bounce back on Friday, March 12th when they travel to St. Thomas Aquinas College for a non-conference doubleheader. Game one will start at 12:00 PM and game two will follow at 2:00 PM.
