SOFTBALL TAKES TWO FROM TIGERS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (3/27/21) The Dominican College softball team swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header from the visiting Tigers of Holy Family University in games played this afternoon at the South Orangetown Little League Complex. DC rallied to win the first game 5-4 and took the nightcap by the score of 6-2.

(3/27/21) The Dominican College softball team swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header from the visiting Tigers of Holy Family University in games played this afternoon at the South Orangetown Little League Complex. DC rallied to win the first game 5-4 and took the nightcap by the score of 6-2.
With the win, Dominican improves to 5-7 overall and 5-1 in CACC play.
Game One: Dominican got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second on the lead off solo home run from Rebecca Haggerty (Grafton, Mass.) for the early 1-0 lead. Holy Family countered in their half of the third with four runs to jump ahead, 4-1. The Lady Chargers scored a run in the bottom of the third on the RBI single up-the-middle off the bat of Haylee Redmond Ridge (Bellflower, Calif.) and added a run in the fourth on the RBI ground by Ridge.
In the bottom of the seventh with two outs, freshman Jenna O'Reilly (Suffern, N.Y.) hit a triple to left center field to bring home Andrea Hester (Yorba Linda, Calif.) and tie the game, 4-4. Second basemen Elizabeth Tolkan (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) produced the game-winning single to left field to plate O'Reilly and give DC the 5-4 win.
Tolkan had two hits in the game, while Ridge finished with two RBI.
Samantha Carbonara (Newark, De.) picked up the win (1-1) in three and 1/3 innings of relief an recording two strikeouts.
Game Two: Dominican scored two runs in the bottom of the first on the two-run blast to left center field from right fielder Kristin Miscia (Basking Ridge, N.J.) and added two runs in the second as Miscia picked up her second RBI of the game with the single to left field and a run later scored on a fielding error.
HFU got on the board in the top of the sixth on a two out double to right field to make the score 4-2.
An infield single by Miscia in the sixth brought home Rajene Bowe (Ellendale, Del.) and after stealing second was able to score on a wild pitch to increase the lead to 6-2.
Miscia finished the game going 3-4 with three runs scored and four RBI. Bowe collected three hits and scored three runs.
Journey Limardo (Anaheim, Calif.) picked up the complete game victory to improve to 3-1 on the season.
Dominican is scheduled to be in action on Wednesday when they travel to Thomas Jefferson University.
