SOFTBALL TAKES TWO FROM NYACK COLLEGE

Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/23/21) The Dominican College softball took two games of a conference doubleheader over Nyack College.

Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/23/21) The Dominican College softball took two games of a conference doubleheader over Nyack College. DC took game one by a score of 3-1 and completed the sweep with a 19-7 win in game two.

The Lady Chargers improve to 16-10 (15-3 CACC) and Nyack falls to 4-13 (4-9 CACC).

Game One: DC opened the doubleheader with a 3-1 win. Shelby Smith (Valley Center, Calif.) recorded the win to improve to 6-3 on the season. Samantha Carbonara (Newark, Del.) entered the game in relief and recorded her second save of the season.

Nyack opened the scoring in the third inning when Erin O'Brien dove in an RBI for the 1-0 lead over DC.

Alyssa Siess (Queens, N.Y.) tied the game in the top of the fourth inning with an RBI single. Siess came around to score later in the inning when Madison Walker (Southampton, N.J.) doubled to give DC the 2-1 lead.

Walker extended the DC lead in the sixth inning with a solo homer to left-center for a 3-1 lead and DC closed out the win.

Game Two: DC completed the sweep over Nyack College with a 19-7 win in five innings.

DC pounded 21 hits in the win. Rajene Bowe (Ellendale, Del.) and Kristin Miscia (Basking Ridge, N.J.) recorded four hits each. Miscia added a homer, a double, and drove in a team-high six RBIs. Bowe added one RBI and scored three runs.

Jenna O'Reilly (Suffern, N.Y.) recorded three hits including a homer and a triple. O'Reilly added two RBIs and scored three runs. Elizabeth Tolkan (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) added three hits and two RBIs.

Haylee Redmond Ridge (Bellflower, Calif.) added two hits and two RBIs. Alyssa Siess, Kamryn Raya (Corona, Calif.), Rebecca Haggerty (Grafton, Mass.), Alyssa Schwalb (Lindenhurst, N.Y.), and Shannon Knipl (Stony Point, N.Y.) all added one RBI.

The Lady Chargers will be back in action on Saturday, April 24th when they travel to Georgian Court University for a conference doubleheader with the Lions. Game one is scheduled for 2:00 PM and game two will follow at 4:00 PM.
