TIGERS TAKE TWO FROM LADY CHARGERS SOFTBALL

Philadelphia, Pa. (4/11/26)  The Dominican University New York softball team suffered to losses to Holy Family University today, 9-1 in five innings and 7-0, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action played at Bensalem High School.

Following the games, the Lady Chargers are now 2-20 overall and 1-7 in conference play.

Game One:  HFU scored two runs in the bottom of the first for the early lead, but the Lady Chargers got a run back in the top of the second as Layla Albarran scored on a wild pitch to cut the lead to 2-1.  From there, the game belonged to the Tigers as they scored runs over the next four innings to get the 9-1 win in five innings.

Albarran and Kindel Johnson each had two hits in the loss.

Starter Gianna Longo took the loss in four and 2/3 innings of work and recording five strikeouts.  Melanie Fiumara closed out the game on the mound.

Game Two:  The Tiger offense stayed hot for game two, taking a 1-0 advantage in the bottom of the first and never looking back en route to the 7-0 win.

Center fielder Deja Robinson, Longo, Emily Angulo and Mia Valverde all had hits for the Lady Chargers.

Victoria Iorio suffered the complete game loss.

Dominican is scheduled to return to action on Monday afternoon as they host non-conference opponent, Queens College, on the DUNY Softbal Field.  Game one is slated to begin at 2:30 pm.
