Waterbury, Conn. (4/15/26) The Dominican University New York softball team dropped both games of a conference doubleheader to the Eagles of Post University on LaMoy Field.
The Eagles defeated the Lady Chargers 7-6 in eight innnings in game one and then completed the sweep with an 8-0 victory in five inninngs in the game two.
Game One: The Lady Chargers jumped ahead in the first inning with a three-run rally highlighted by a two-RBI single by Victoria Iorio.
Post scratched their first run across on a passed ball in the second inning but Emily Angulo extended the DU lead to 4-1 in the third inning with an RBI-single.
Post scored three unanswered runs in the fourth and sixth innings to tied the game at 4-4.
Isabella Mitterando gave the Lady Chargers the lead back after a two-RBI single for the 6-4 lead.
In the bottom of the seventh inning trailing by two, Post's Tatiana Martinez delivered a game tying two-run triple which sent the game into extra innings.
The Eagles secured the win when Nyla Sapia drove in the winning run.
DU starting pitcher Gianna Longo went 7.2 inninigs while striking out nine Eagles but suffered the loss. Post starting pitcher Meghan McGurk tossed 6.2 innings while Katelyn Lipsky entered in relief and picked up the win.
Game Two: The Eagles completed the sweep after an 8-0 victory in five innings in game two.
Lipsky started for the Eagles and picked up the win throwing a complete game. Iorio started for Dominican and suffered the loss.
Post opened the scoring in the first inning when Alyssa Calabrese doubled in two runs. Post added to their lead with four runs in the fourth and two more runs in the fifth which ended the game.
Longo and Deja Robinson each added a hit for Dominican in game two.
The Lady Chargers visit Molloy University this Saturday for a non-conference doubleheader.
