LADY CHARGERS CELEBRATE SENIOR DAY AGAINST COUGARS

Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/21/26)  The Dominican University New York softball team lost both games of their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header against Caldwell University played today at the DUNY Softball Field.

The Cougars won the first game, 11-0 in five innings and fell in the nightcap, 13-0 to now stand at 2-28 overall and 1-11 in conference play.

Prior to the start of the game, the team honored seniors: #4 Nicole Mata, #8 Deja Robinson, #15 Emily Baxter and #24 Emily Angulo.

Game One:  Caldwell scored runs in the first three inings to hold an 8-0 lead and added three more in the fifth for the 11-0 win.

Robinson, Angulo, Gianna Longo, Isabella Mitterando and Adrianna DeValerio all had hits for the Lady Chargers.

Starter Longo took the loss.

Game Two:  The Cougars got on the board in the top of the first inning and added five more in the third for the early 6-0 lead.

Dominican got on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning as sophomore Victoria Iorio delivered a run-scoring single up-the-middle to cut the lead to 6-1.

Caldwell got the run back in their half of the fifth and tacked on six more runs in the top of the seventh for the 13-1 win.

Robinson, Angulo, Iorio and Longo all had hits for Dominican.

Starter Jenna Jump suffered the loss.

The Lady Chargers return to action on Friday afternoon when they host Thomas Jefferson University.  Game one is slated for a 2pm start.
