Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/24/26) The Dominican University New York softball team lost two games to host Thomas Jefferson University, 12-4 and 12-0, today in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action played at the DUNY Softball Field.
Following the games, the Lady Chargers now stand at 2-30 overall and 1-13 in CACC play.
Game One: Jefferson scored a run in the top of the third, but the Lady Chargers countered with a run in the bottom half of the inning on the RBI single to left filed from senior Nicole Mata to make the score 1-1. The Rams scored seven runs in the fourth and added two in the fifth to make the score 10-1.
Dominican added three runs in the bottom of the fifth as Gianna Longo brought home a run on the fielder's choice and Kindel Johnson followed with a sacrifice fly ball to left field to plate Adrianna DeValerio. Senior Emily Angulo then hit a run-scoring single up-the-middle to cut the deficit to 10-4.
A two-run single by the Rams in the top of the sixth increased their lead to the eventual 12-4 six inning win.
Longo had the loss in four innings of work.
Game Two: Jefferson jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the top of the first and added two runs in the second for the 12-0 five inning win.
Victoria Iorio went 2-2 in the game and also suffered the loss.
The Lady Chargers return to action on Sunday when they travel to Chestnut Hill College.
