LASKOWSKI NETS 1,000TH CAREER POINT AS LADY CHARGERS DEFEAT GOLDEY-BEACOM COLLEGE
Orangeburg, NY (1/11/09) Junior forward Adele Laskowski (Wayne, NJ) netted her 1,000th career point in the second half as the Dominican College women's basketball defeated the visiting Goldey-Beacom College Lightning, 71-55 this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action from the Hennessy Center.
Orangeburg, NY (1/11/09) Junior forward Adele Laskowski (Wayne, NJ) netted her 1,000th career point in the second half as the Dominican College women's basketball defeated the visiting Goldey-Beacom College Lightning, 71-55 this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action from the Hennessy Center.
The Lady Chargers charged out to an early 15-3 lead and led by as many as 15 points in the first half as they cruised to a 39-19 lead at the break. Laskowski led all scorers in the half with 15 points and had a team leading five rebounds.
DC led by as many as 26 points early in the second half, but GBC was able to cut the lead to 11 points twice but would never cut the deficit to single digits as Dominican went on to the 71-55 victory.
Senior forward Kellyn Nolan (Wyamart, PA) led the Lightning with 14 points. Janae Weldon (Trenton, NJ) netted 13 points, while Ashley Steele (Levittown, NY) scored 10 points off the bench in the loss. Arielle Alford (Brodentown, NJ) had a game leading 14 rebounds.
Laskowski led all scorers with a career high 32 points, six rebounds a game leading five assists and three steals. Senior guard Althea Chambers (Yonkers, NY) netted 21 points, a team leading nine caroms and four assists in the win. Junior Rachelle Sainten (Spring Valley, NY) netted nine points and two steals off the bench.
Dominican improves to 6-7 overall and 3-0 in the CACC with the victory, while Goldey-Beacom falls to 4-9 overall and 1-4 in the CACC.
The Lady Chargers are back in action on Thursday when they travel to Bloomfield College in a CACC game scheduled for 6pm.
