WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SURVIVES LATE RALLY TO DEFEAT WILMINGTON UNIVERSITY WILDCATS
Orangeburg, NY (2/7/09) The Dominican College women's basketball team survived a late second half rally by the visiting Wildcats of Wilmington University, 74-72, this afternoon in the 8th Annual Sue Heller Game on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.

The Lady Chargers held a 39-28 lead at the break and extended the lead to 65-50 with 8:34 left in regulation. The Wildcats offense exploded for a 18-2 run to give them their first lead in the second half, 68-67 with 2:59 to go.
Senior guard Althea Chambers (Yonkers, NY) regained the lead for DC with 1:34 left converting two free throws to put them up 70-68 and they never looked back en route to the 74-72 victory.
Junior forward Amelia Simmons (Wilmington, DE) led the Wildcats with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Junior Kim Parker (New Castle, DE) scored 21 points and two steals, while forward Jillian Bennett (Maple Shade, NJ) netted 15 points and eight rebounds in the loss.
Junior forward Adele Laskowski (Wayne, NJ) led all scorers with a career high double-double of 32 points and 17 caroms. Chambers finished with 31 points, 10 boards and three steals in the win.
For the efforts Simmons and Laskowski were named the Most Valuable Players for each team in honor of the 8th Annual Sue Heller Game.
Dominican improves to 13-9 overall and 10-2 in the CACC, while Wilmington falls to 13-8 and 8-4 in the CACC.
The Lady Chargers are back in action on Tuesday when they host Bloomfield College in CACC women's action from Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center. Game time is set for 6pm.
