Dominican jumped out to a commanding 18-4 lead with 11:20 left in the first stanza after exploding with a 14-0 run. DC ended the half, outscoring GCU 13-10 for a 31-14 lead. The Lady Chargers shot 13-27 (48.1%) in the first half, while the Lions shot 7-22 (31.8%).
GCU was able to cut the deficit to ten points (25-35) in the second half, but that is as close as they would get as DC dominated the offensive game en route to the 51-33 victory.
Christina White led the Lions with the game's only double-double, 12 points and 10 rebounds. Dee Varley added nine points and five assists, while Dorian Jackson had eight points and five caroms.
The Lady Chargers were led by senior center Shalissa Burgess (Englewood, NJ) with nine points. Freshman Megan Murphy (Carmel, NY) came off the bench to score seven points and four rebounds, while Althea Chambers (Yonkers, NY), Adele Laskowski (Wayne, NJ) and Shanice Scully (St. Albans, NY) all chipped in six points a piece in the win.
With the victory DC improves to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the CACC, while GCU falls to 2-7 overall and 0-2 in the CACC.
Dominican is back in action on Wednesday as they travel to the Cruzin Classic in Floriday. DC will take on Nova Southeastern University at 6pm on Wednesday.
