WOMEN'S BASKETBALL LOSES TO UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL MISSOURI AT CRUZIN' CLASSIC

Fort Lauderdale, FL (12/18/08) The Lady Chargers basketball squad lost their second game of the Cruzin' Classic to the University of Central Missouri, 77-51 this evening.
The Jennies held a 39-36 lead at the intermission after shooting 54.5% (6-11) from beyond the three point arc. UCM had an explosive start to the second half with a 19-4 run en route to the 77-51 victory.
The Lady Chargers struggled from the floor in the second half, shooting just 11.4% (4-35) and finished the game shooting 23.1% (15-65). UCM also out rebounded DC 50-36.
Junior forward Adele Laskowski (Wayne, NJ) led Dominican with 13 points, six rebounds and three steals. Senior center Shalissa Burgess (Englewood, NJ) netted 11 points and had three blocks in the loss.
The Jennies were led by sophomore Kara Fleming (Kansas City, MO) with 14 points and eight caroms. Junior guard Brittney Slifer (Warrensburg, MO) contributed 12 points off the bench, while Katy Davenport (Manhattan, KS) scored 11 points and seven boards.
With the victory UCM improves to 7-2 overall while DC falls to 4-4 overall.
Dominican is back in action on Saturday, December 28th when they host non-conference opponent Southern Connecticut State University on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center. Game time is slated for 3pm.
