NEW HAVEN DEFEATS LADY CHARGERS BASKETBALL IN SEASON OPENER

New Haven, CT (11/15/09) The Dominican College women's basketball team lost their 2009-2010 season opener, 66-46 to host the University of New Haven this afternoon in a non-conference game at Charger gymnasium.

New Haven, CT (11/15/09) The Dominican College women's basketball team lost their 2009-2010 season opener, 66-46 to host the University of New Haven this afternoon in a non-conference game at Charger gymnasium.

DC struggled offensively, shooting 25.8% (16-62) for the game and just 15.4% (4-26) from the three point arc. From the free-throw line, Dominican shot 52.6% (10-19) for the game.

Senior guard Rachelle Sainten (Spring Valley, NY) led the Lady Chargers with 13 points (7-10 from the free throw line), while adding six rebounds. Freshman Shannon Lavelle (Floral Park, NY) came off the bench to score nine points. Senior forward Adele Laskowski (Wayne, NJ)Jas netted seven points, while junior Jasmine Schinella (Wappinger Falls, NY) grabbed a team leading nine rebounds off the bench in the loss.

With the loss, Dominican falls to 0-1 on the season.

Dominican is back in action next Friday and Saturday at the Nyack College Tip-Off Tournament. On Friday the Lady Chargers will take on Bloomsburg University at 5pm and will face St. Thomas Aquinas College on Saturday at 1pm.
