SAINTEN LIFTS LADY CHARGERS BASKETBALL TO WIN OVER BLOOMSBURG UNIVERSITY

Nyack, NY (11/20/09) Senior guard Rachelle Sainten (Spring Valley, NY) hit a jump shot at the buzzer to lift the Lady Chargers basketball team to an 80-79 victory over Bloomsburg University this evening at the Nyack College Tip-Off Tournament.

Nyack, NY (11/20/09)  Senior guard Rachelle Sainten (Spring Valley, NY) hit a jump shot at the buzzer to lift the Lady Chargers basketball team to an 80-79 victory over Bloomsburg University this evening at the Nyack College Tip-Off Tournament. 

The Huskies led by 11 points (33-22) with 7:27 left in the first half when the Lady Chargers charged back with a 17-4 run to take 39-37 lead with 3:21 left before the break.  DC went into the intermission with a 46-41 lead on a three point bucket by sophomore Meghan Murphy (Carmel, NY).

In the second half the Huskies led by eight points (69-61) with 7:14 remaining in regulation when DC exploded with an 11-0 run to take a 72-69 lead with just under four minutes remaining in the game.

Tied at 78-78 with 0:50 second left in regulation, the Huskies went 1-2 from the line to take a 79-78 lead.

Off the inbound bass, Sainten dribbled the length of the floor and hit the game winning shot as time expired to lift the Lady Chargers to the 80-79 victory.

With the win the Lady Chargers improve to 1-1 on the year.

DC is back in action tomorrow at the Nyack College Tip-Off Tournament as they take on St. Thomas Aquinas College at 1pm.
