Bio
Coach Diener enters his 16th year as the head coach of the Lady Chargers with a career record of 217-201 and a 169-115 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) record. He has led the program to two CACC Championships and two twenty-win seasons.
Coach Diener is a recipient of the All-Metropolitan Coach of the Year Award for the 2020-2021 season.
During the 2020-2021 season, Coach Diener led the Lady Chargers to their first CACC Championship. The team also earned the program's first #1 seed in the NCAA East Regional tournament.
In the 2022-2023 season, Coach Diener led the team to a 21-11 overall record and earned the program's second CACC Championship and a berth in the NCAA East Regional Tournament.
Under Coach Diener, 12 Lady Charger players have reached 1,000 career points. Coach Diener came to Dominican from Albertus Magnus High School where he was the head coach for the girls' varsity team for the previous ten years. He compiled a 163-62 record, won five league championships and one Section 1 championship. He guided his teams to six Section 1 Final Four appearances, two Section 1 Finals and one NYS Regional Finals appearance. He was named the league 3-c Coach of the Year four times and was a named Rockland County Journal News Coach of the Year twice.
Before taking over the girls' program at Albertus Magnus, he served as an assistant coach for the boys' team for five years where the team won two Section 1 Championships, 1 Regional Championship and one State Final Appearance. Coach Diener also served as the head coach for the St. Anthony's CYO sixth grade girls' team for four years.
Coach Diener is currently employed as a Market Manager for Calise Sons Bakery. He resides in Nanuet, NY with his wife Doreen; and his children Tara, Lindsey and Tyler in addition to six grandchildren.
