WOMEN'S LACROSSE UPENDS WILMINGTON UNIVERSITY
Bear, DE (4/2/11) The Dominican College women's lacrosse team defeated Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent, Wilmington University, 9-8 yesterday for the second time this week to improve to 4-2 overall and 3-1 in the conference play.

Senior Sarah Kiernan (Saugerties, NY) led the Lady Chargers with the hat trick of three goals in the the game.
Junior midfielder Aubree Williams (Great Meadows, NJ) and senior Silje Karlsen (Vernon, NJ) each netted two goals a-piece in the victory.
Goalie Amanda Caprio (Point Pleasant, NJ) made eight saves in the win.
The Wildcats held a 2-0 lead when Dominican charged back with a 2-0 spurt of their own as Karlsen converted a free position shot and Kiernan scored her first goal of the game off the assist from Michelle Fiorvanti (Commack, NY) to tie the score at 2-2.
A second 2-0 run by Wilmington regained a 4-2 lead, but Karlsen netted her second goal with 10:13 left before halftime to cut the lead to 4-3. After another WU goal to go up 5-3, the Lady Chargers closed out the first half scoring with two consecutive goals off the sticks of Kiernan and Williams with asists going to Olivia Antonopoulos (Baldwin, NY) and N'Jameh Philip (Monroe, NY) to even things up at 5-5 at halftime.
Dominican continued on their scoring run with two man-up goals as Fiorvanti recorded her first goal of the game and Kiernan tallied her third game goal to complete a 4-0 run and can their first lead of the game, 7-5.
Wilmington came back to tie the game with another 2-0 run, but freshman midfielder Traci-Joan Muniz (Middlesex, NJ) put DC ahead with an unassisted goal with 13:34 left in regulation to regain an 8-7 advantage.
WU came back to tie the score at 8-8, but Williams scored the game winning goal with 2:56 left to play for the final 9-8 Lady Charger victory.
