WOMEN'S LACROSSE VICTORIOUS OVER POST UNIVERSITY
Orangeburg, NY (4/5/11) The Dominican College women's lacrosse team used a 10-1 run that spanned the last 6:39 of the first half and the first 7:43 of the second half to charge past the Eagles of Post University 18-12 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's lacrosse game played on the DC Lacrosse Field.

Sophomore Michelle Fiorvanti (Commack, NY) netted a career high five goals and tallied three assists for a team leading eight points in the victory.
Freshman midfielder Maggie Brocklebank (Long Branch, NJ) scored four goals, while three other Lady Chargers netted two goals a-piece.
CACC Rookie of the Week, Amanda Caprio (Point Pleasant, NJ) made 13 saves in the win.
Post held an early 1-0 lead when the Lady Chargers charged back with three consecutive goals to go up 3-1 as Elizabeth Schmidt (Montgomery, NY) scored her 13th goal of the season and Brocklebank followed about a minute later with her first goal of the game off the assist from Silje Karlsen (Vernon, NJ). Briana Blank (Point Pleasant, NJ) recorded her 13th goal of the season of the assist from Fiorvanti to end the run.
Post tied the game at 3-3 with a 2-0 spurt, but Blank put DC back in front, 4-3 with 25:37 remaining in the first half. Tied at 4-all, Fiorvanti netted her first goal of the game off the pass from Blank to give the Lady Chargers a 5-4 lead. Two consecutive goals by the Eagles gave them a 6-5 lead, but Dominican answered right back as Fiorvanti netted two goals within just about a minute of each other to take a 7-6 lead.
Tied at 7-7, Dominican closed out the first half with a 3-0 run with goals coming from Brocklebank, freshman Olivia Antonopoulos (Baldwin, NY) and Fiorvanti to give DC a 10-7 lead at the break.
Dominican continued the scoring run in the second half as Brocklebank netted two straight goals off the assists from Fiorvanti and Schmidt to extend the lead to 12-7. An Eagle goal broke the run with 26:49 left to play, but Dominican went on a 5-0 tear to go ahead 17-8. The first three goals of the run all came off man-down situations as midfielder Caitlin Murray (Oakdale, NY) netted her first goal of the contest and Fiorvanti followed about 0:30 later with her fifth goal of the game off the assist from Blank. Fourteen seconds later Schmidt got her second goal of the game and freshman Traci Muniz (Middlesex, NJ) closed the run with her eighth goal of the season.
A 3-0 run by Post made the score 17-11 and Murray scored Dominican's 18th goal of the game with 1:32 to play off the assist from Brocklebank. Post netted the game's last goal for the final 18-12 Dominican victory.
With the win Dominican improves to 5-2 overall and 4-1 in conference play.
