THREE LADY CHARGERS EARN ALL-CONFERENCE ACCOLADES
Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/20/15) Three members of the Dominican College women's lacrosse team have been named to the All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Second Team as was announced by Commissioner Dan Mara.
Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/20/15) Three members of the Dominican College women's lacrosse team have been named to the All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Second Team as was announced by Commissioner Dan Mara.
Seniors Allison Smithwick* (Commack, N.Y.) and Gina Sparaco* (Freeport, N.Y.), along with junior Christina Brennan (Washington Township, N.J.) all earned All-CACC Second Team accolades.
Smithwick, who is a four-year starter at the attack position and a team captain, leads the team and ranks eighth in the conference in both goals and assists. In 2015, she became the all-time leading scorer in DC women's lacrosse history and currently has 167 career goals. She is also the all-time program leader in goals per game, career points, points per game and assists. She ranks second all-time in assists per game, third in draw controls, fourth in draw controls per game and fifth in ground balls.
This is her third All-CACC selection as she earned First Team honors in 2014 and 2013. In 2012 she was named the CACC Rookie of the Year. This season she has earned one Corvias/Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Player of the Week.
Sparaco, also a four-year player and team captain, makes her second consecutive appearance on the All-CACC Second Team. She is currently second on the team and is tied for 17th in the conference in goals scored. She netted her 100th career goal on April 1st, 2015 against East Stroudsburg University. She is currently fifth in program history in points and draw contols, 10th in points per game, fourth in goals and ninth in goals per game.
Brennan, a three-year starter, makes her third appearance on an All-CACC Team as she earned First Team honors in 2013 and 2014. She sits third on the team and is tied for 24th in the CACC in goals. She currently ranks fourth in program history in points, is third in points per game, fifth in goals, seventh in goals per game and first in assists per game.
