#3 WOMEN'S LACROSSE DOWN #6 MOLLOY LIONS IN FIRST ROUND OF NCAA EAST REGIONAL TOURNAMENT
Pleasantville, N.Y. (5/8/25) The #3 Dominican University New York women's lacrosse team defeated the #6 Molloy University Lions, 19-7, this afternoon in the first round of the 2025 NCAA East Regional Tournament being hosted by #2 Pace University.
With the win, the Lady Chargers improve to 19-1 and extend their winning streak to 18 games.
Dominican began the game on a 9-0 run and led 10-1 after one quarter of play.
The Lady Chargers accounted for all of the scoring in the second quarter to extend their lead 14-1 at the break.
The third quarter saw Erica Ortiz net a goal to make the score 15-1 before the game was delayed due to lightning. When the teams returned to play, DUNY used a 2-1 run to make the score 17-2 after three quarters of play.
Molloy controlled the final quarter, outscoring Dominican 5-2 for the final 19-7 Lady Charger victory.
Grace DeStasio and Madelyn Grella led the Lady Chargers with four goals and four assists each, while Ortiz also finished with four goals.
Attacker Caitlin Costello tallied three goals and one assist with Josie Lettieri adding two scores and one assist.
Ellie Brouwer and Rylie McGhan had the other Dominican scores, while Madison Mileti had an assist in the win.
Dominican advances to take on the second-seeded Setters of Pace University this coming Saturday afternoon. Game time is slated for 3pm at Northwell Stadium.
